Gail's Aquaponic Garden
"Gardening is a place where you find yourself when you try to lose yourself".
Welcome to My Backyard Aquaponic Garden!
Aquaponic (Aq~ua~pon~ic ) Garden:
a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water.
This website is dedicated to helping others who are interested in learning/sharing gardening information when using Aquaponics, Hydroponics, aeroponics, self-watering bucket systems, Vermiculture, etc.
If you are still growing your herbs, fruits & veggies the traditional way (with dirt) and are tired of weeding, preparing the ground every Spring and cleaning up every Fall, etc., you might want to consider switching to an Aquaponic garden.
Aquaponics is a chemical & pesticide-free gardening method that uses 90% less water then conventional (dirt) gardening and exceeds the USDA organic standard requirements. And, because the grow beds are raised, working in your garden is easy on the back!. One of my favorite things about growing plants in an Aquaponics garden is that although you will witness your plants “taking off”, there are very few weeds that grow in the system- that’s a win-win for me. Once you try it, you will probably not go back!
In an effort to find the best gardening method for myself, I have tried a variety of ways to grow veggies and ornamental plants including hydroponics, aquaponics, aeroponics and, most recently, a self-watering bucket system (which I am loving!)
Our primary system is made from large stock tanks and other items you can purchase locally and at reasonable prices. This website will soon provide you information as to how you can build your own system. At times we sell off excess items and fish to help supplement our hobby.
Excuse me while I redesign my site. Check back often as there is a lot I’ll be adding. You can access the original website.
