Live Spider Plantlets
Chlorophytum comosum, also known as spider plant, airplane plant, St. Bernard’s lily, spider ivy, ribbon plant, and hen and chickens. This plant is a species of perennial flowering plant.
Scientific name: Chlorophytum comosum
About These Plants:
These are larger babies and very well rooted.
These are healthy starter-size striped SPIDER or AIRPLANE plants. They are green on the outer edges and white, or pale yellow, in the middle of the leaves. Your plant will look like those in the photos, and will be approximately 5″ – 7″ tall.
As a very hardy plan, they can multiply rapidly and are easy to grow, requiring very little maintenance. Just water a couple of times a week (when the soil is dry), and keep them in full to partial sun.
As seen in the photo, they all have very healthy root systems. Soon they will sprout a stem with small white flowers, then a new plant will soon form at the end of the stem.
Ideas for These Plants:
Make Your Own Basket:
Just five small spider plants will turn into a beautiful basket of hanging spider plants. They look beautiful in the home and/or on your patio in the Spring through Fall. I recommend you adding a self-watering bottle to help keep your plants hydrated in the warmer weather.
DIY Party Flavors:
Need a party favor for an upcoming event? You can buy small, or even tiny clay pots (Amazon, Michaels, AC Moore, etc.) and plant 1-2 of these healthy baby spider plants in each pot using dirt recommended for household plants (Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart). Wrap a ribbon around each one coordinating the color with your event, maybe put a small bee ‘pic’ in each one with a small ‘Thank you’ card. There you have it… an inexpensive yet useful and beautiful party favor your family and friends will enjoy!
