Day #17 – Banana Tree Fruiting Progress

The banana tree is the most unique and amazing plant to grow and observe; especially once the flower appears and begins to open. I’ve noticed that while you and I sleep, the banana tree makes significant growth changes, more so than during the daylight hours.

This is the 16th day since the banana flower on my Dwarf Cavendish plant first began to open. I will soon be putting together a progress slide show, showing from the first day the flower began to open until harvest time, God willing, it makes it through the winter.

As of today I counted the bananas; there are now 40 ‘formed’ bananas and 28 ‘new’ tiny ones are just appearing out from under the new set of bracts which have opened within the last 48 hours.
