Gail - Gail's Aquaponic Garden
larger Dwarf Cavendish Plant

“I’ve always loved gardening and animals of any kind including birds and fish. Its clear that I inherited these passions from my Dad. He had a true appreciation and respect for nature in general. He was born and raised on a farm and continued gardening right up until the day he passed away.

My First Garden Experience:

We moved into our home and installed a small Koi pond. I tried growing veggies but became discouraged as deer kept destroying my plants before they could even grow. We also have our fair share of squirrels, raccoons and groundhogs here- I’ve seen a groundhog actually climbing my ornamental peach tree to grab a snack! The sprays, gadgets and other deterrents I tried failed and I just gave up.

The Greenhouse:

After my parents passed, I bought a large, decent sized greenhouse kit with my inheritance and dedicated it to them. Whenever I’m in the green house it reminds me of how lucky I am to have had two very loving and caring parents.

My wonderful husband built the greenhouse himself with me helping out where and the best I could… I think he did an awesome job and am grateful for him making it possible to make my hobby blossom (excuse the pun)!

Summary:

The greenhouse and garden is still a project in the making as we are always learning, expanding and testing/updating our systems and growing methods.

Not only does the garden provide us fresh, healthy food, but it has become my refuge from the hustling and bustling world… my “SHE SHED” if you will. I love to be surrounded by the sounds of running water and the occasional scent of mint, basil and rosemary in the air, there is simply nowhere else I’d rather spend my free time.”
